WHAT TYPE OF GOALKEEPER GLOVE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

A goalkeeper relies on gloves that provide the best grip and the utmost feel for the balls, as the outcome of the match ultimately depends on the goalkeeper's focus and saves. The glove should feel comfortable, ensure a necessary grip on the ball, and also protect against impacts and kicks.

But which type of goalkeeper glove suits different needs? At SELECT, we have goalkeeper gloves for all levels and age groups. Common to all of them is high quality and superb fit.

CUT TYPES OF GLOVES

There are two types of cut styles when it comes to goalkeeper gloves.

Flat cut

The flat cut is characterized by a traditional shape with a flat palm construction and a relatively large contact area. There are no seams on the inside of the glove, only a large flat gripping area, providing excellent mobility for fingers and hand.

NEGATIVE CUT

The negative cut is characterized by seams on the inside and a somewhat tighter design. It offers less mobility but a snugger fit, resulting in a more direct and optimal ball contact. Primarily used by professionals.

HYBRID CUT

The Hybrid cut is characterized by an asymmetric setup removing the lateral gussets at index and pinky finger, to provide even more ball control and sensory impulse.

FIND YOUR GLOVE SIZE

Ensure you find your correct glove size using the SELECT size guide, where you can easily locate your size by measuring your hand length. When measuring your hand, it's crucial to measure the inside of your palm - from the tip of your index finger to the point where your wrist begins. Measure in centimeters and then find your length and corresponding glove size in our chart. A glove should neither be too tight nor too loose, as both affect ball control and comfort.

REMEMBER TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR GOALKEEPER GLOVES

In addition to the unpleasant odor resulting from not washing and caring for your goalkeeper gloves, it can actually break down the latex surface of the gloves if not properly maintained. Goalkeeper gloves should be hand-washed gently after each training session.
Use only lukewarm water and squeeze the water out of the gloves gently when finished washing. It is crucial that the gloves dry slowly in a ventilated room away from sunlight.
